Do they get excited about what they do and who they do it for? Keeping employees actively engaged and happy at work can be a challenge. Do you as the manager or business owner know if your employees are truly enjoying what they do?
One good way to keep employees engaged at work is to find out what they enjoy about their job and why. Employers should also find out if there other duties that they would like to learn to do and then teach them.
Ask them what you (the manager or business owner) can do to make their job more meaningful to them. You may be surprised at what the staff members have to say and also how much they appreciate that you care enough to ask them.
Business owner’s and managers should ask themselves the following questions on a regular basis in order to keep your finger on the pulse of the business.
(1) Does the business provide high quality service and goods that my staff can be proud to recommend with confidence?
(2) Does the business have good delivery systems in place that will ensure that promises and commitments made to customers are met?
(3) Does the business have good business practices, honest, straightforward and carried out with integrity?
Employees want to be connected with a company that they can be proud to be working for. The more they believe in the business and those who own and manage it, the more they will become engaged employees.
If you can answer yes to these questions then your company is heading on the right path to creating engaged employees. Ask them what they think and then take the time to listen.
If you cannot answer yes to these questions, do some homework and fix what is broken as your and your employees livelihood depends on it.
