Wasting Time At Work

Recently my family took a little cruise together.  My husband and I got to the port before the rest of our family members so we had some time to sit and people watch.  My husband spotted this security guard sitting on a stool looking at her cell phone.

It was in the morning, around 10:00 a.m., when my husband spotted her so he thought she must be on a break.  But after 30 minutes had passed and she was still sitting looking at her phone we began to think otherwise.

People were walking by her and she never even looked up from her phone.  One person asked her a question about directions and she answered, but went right back to reading what was on her phone.

After 45 minutes of watching her she got up and left.  We never figured out if she was on duty or not, but if she was not on duty why would she be there in the first place?

It always amazes me how people will waste time at work.  We are paid by our employer to do a job and we are paid to be at work doing our job for a certain number of hours a day.  If we are not giving our employer a full day’s work for a full days pay then we are cheating them for taking money for unworked time, it is as simple as that.

You may think it goes unnoticed, but I guarantee you it does not.

“Honesty and integrity are absolutely essential for success in life, all areas of life.  The really good news is that anyone can develop both honesty and integrity.” Zig Ziglar
