Team Building Strategies That Work

983609_bees_flying_in_blue_sky Talking about the benefits of teamwork is one of my favorite topics because when a work team is orchestrated harmoniously the team members enjoy their jobs and the days seems to be just a bit sweeter for all.  Not to say that working as a team is always sweet, because there is always the occasional “stings” between teammates that need to be worked through.  But, overall work life when working with a good team, is really pretty sweet I have to say.  Teamwork builds bonds between coworkers and their employers, which in turn benefit their customers/patients or clients.  A good team environment increases morale and spirit between co-workers and it is easier to ask for help from one another thus a better guarantee that the overall job will get done.  The day tends to run smoother because everyone will pitch in when it is busy and put in a little extra effort for the sake of the whole team and the desired outcome.  Having a successful team sounds wonderful but where do you begin to cultivate one?  If your desire is to begin creating a healthy team environment here are five great team building strategies that can help to begin building a strong team in your place of business.

1. First and foremost the leadership of the business need to be committed and communicate the team culture that they want to have.  They need to lead by example.  If this doesn’t happen then do not expect to have a     team environment of any sort.

2. Communication by all team members needs to be open, honest and respectful to one another and to those your serve in your place of business.

3. Team members are allowed to be creative in accomplishing the goals of the business and their viewpoints taken in to consideration and also implemented if they fit the overall workplace culture.

4. Business owners and management need to be able to cultivate a team participation, leadership, and valuing the uniqueness of each team member.

5. Team effort is recognized and rewarded for any and all goals that are set and reached.  And also do not forget to reward team members for being caught doing “good” the right thing.  Surprise praise is always a great motivator to team members.

By implementing these team growing strategies you will find that your team will begin building bonds between themselves, they will start being more creative, and they will feel a great more job satisfaction.  What more could you want?  Try these out and let us know how they work for you.
